Great layout for any golfer. Greens are perfect for late DEC in North Carolina. Cannot beat price for quality golf in Pinehurst/Southern Pines area.

I had not played this course since it changed hands, and was impressed with how much better shape the course was in. The bunkers need sand, but otherwise the course is well laid out and in good shape. The greens ran true, and were reasonably fast. the fairways are beginning to come back from the winter, but there is plenty of turf to hit from in most positions. The course has several lakes that come into play, and the course is interesting enough to play again. The staff was friendly and I would recommend this as a reasonably priced choice for a trip to the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area.

Our group of snow-refugees played here 2-7-11, in decent weather (especially for us). Course has recently changed hands, and is now called Hyland Golf Club. Pro shop and outside staff were super, and very customer-focused. Layout/design is about average, with the greens being the major distinguishing features. They are very large, and many slope severely from side-to-side, which is an unusual design these days. Generally, they putted medium fast and true. Bunkers were quite firm, and difficult to play. Fairways were OK, and had been overseeded, so they looked nice and green amid the brown Bermuda rough. Course is relatively flat, and walkable. In any other area, the course would be in the top ten or so, but here in the Pinehurst region, it sufferes by comparison. It's a straightforward design, "what you see is what you get," and it's reasonably priced. I recommend.
